testing deeper waters

So I tried a couple higher limit games in San Diego, and Arizona. Ouch. The trick is that kill pots are a different animal. In one hand you're doing fine, and then two wins later, you are in a kill pot, defending your blind with a short stack. Seems like the kill pot serves to bust out the small stacks once they get on a roll.

Not all bad in Tucson. I posted my kill pot after two wins and peaked at pocket Aces. By the time the action came around to me, the betting had capped, and I was forced, yes, forced to cold call a capped first round of betting. I got a ragged flop, which I bet. In the end, it was a very nice pot, and I left way ahead for the night.

Back in LA I get a really Bad Beat with pocket aces.

Very Wild, indeed. Nine players at the table re-raised and five players see the flop. I've got pocket aces and hit 8 - A - 4. The table checks around, and I bet from the button. Seat five raises. The Turn is a 2 bringing check all around and I bet allowing seat five to check raise again. The River brings a 4 and the table checks to me and I bet my aces.

Seat five gets to check raise again, and everyone folds. I put him on A 4 for a lesser full house.

Ooooopppsss.

Heads up, we raise and re-reraise until I'm all in.

Little twerp had one out, I had all the other outs. Dang it! That'll learn me. Four 4's beats aces full every time. Why couldn't the twit have pocket 10's hit, so we could all share the bad beat jackpot?

I hate poker.
